Just as last year and the year before, Apple is giving away scholarships to students like me to join their developer conference.
For lucky attendees, Apple will provide at minimum free entrance and some sort of special treatment.
Fair enough, the expense for traveling to USA and staying one week in San Francisco when everybody else is looking for hotel room is a lot.
Nevertheless, I am willing to take my chance in winning such a scholarship.
In order to attend, you are asked to develop an iOS app that tells the story about you and shows your talent as well as your creativity.
In my opinion, I can tell stories, calling myself a little talented and may be some kind of creative.
Therefore, I started designing the app that shall bring me so SF a few weeks ago.
I wanted to make something special, something as much polished, as I could polish it. As much innovative, as I can think ahead. As much interactive, as I can think of interactions.
Nevertheless, I know that I will fail sublimely.
But because of that knowledge, I can look at it as an exercise. Having seen a few apps of last years attendees, I am pretty sure to fail.
Thus, I am in a situation, in which I simultaneously love and hate the work that I have done. Must be sound kind of wired in your ears and it sure is.
At least as wired as trying to get one of roughly 300 scholarships.
But I have to try. I need to do my best because it is part of my nature and the benefits for my further career (yep, I am planning on a potential career in iOS development) may be huge.
Even if I do not make it, I am planning on using the app in my CV for future applications. The app should represent myself and what I am capable of doing.
That being said, I want to share a little insight to my designs:

Here you can see my attempt to illustrate the Java programming language. The picture is shown while a text talks about Java and me.
However, I made better progress than it may sound, as about one third of the app is already implemented.
I am confident that I will write more articles about Project WWDC 2016 in the future.
